About the Artist

Arentino Lucero

Arentino Lucero was born in Oakland, California in 1997 to Native American and Latinx parents. Raised in the East Bay his whole life, he has strong ties to Bay Area art culture and Latinx-Indigenous culture, their importance of symbolism and use of generational knowledge guides all of his work. These communities as well as the Bay Area Graffiti scene and interest in the Surrealism Art Movement of the 1940’s, heavily influences Arentino’s creative vision as these worlds converge at the core of who the artist is. Creating colorful, complex and sensitive artwork that visually demands attention to it’s underlying depth is the result of years of observation of local art and studying the numerous chapters of Art History. As a self-taught multifaceted artist, he has an insatiable hunger to learn and create that allows for the inner-chaos if his mind to run free. Often mixing disciplines and constantly experimenting to create entirely fresh concepts, Arentino enjoys most of all, the process of trial and error and overcoming challenges. This being a mindset learned and passed down from his familial generations before him. Coming from a family of Artists and Craftsmen, Arentino began his artistic journey at just 4 years old, learning to draw, paint, and woodwork while watching his Grandfather and other relatives design and build Holiday decorations every year. This rich family heritage has gifted him with expertise of many skills ranging from carpentry and contruction to sewing and painting and everything inbetween. At 20, driven by a passion for learning, Arentino Lucero decided to hone his skills and embrace new ideas by studying Visual Development at the nearby Academy of Art University in San Francisco. These few years developing his craft and expanding his mindset amongst his peers were crucial for the artist’s true essence to eventually merge into his work and set the stage for what it is today. Arentino has participated in many local public exhibitions in the Bay Area as well as having artwork collected privately around the globe. Since 2021, he has excelled as a Prop Designer, producing Event Decor for Fortune 500 Companies including Google, Facebook, Meta, and Amazon. With over 15 years of experience as a craftsmen of many trades, in 2024, he launched Lucero Paint and Designs. A small business that encompasses his diverse talents in creative Painting, Sculpting, Prop Design, Event Design, and Woodworking, offering to the local Bay community for the first time, his passion and love for creating. Today, he lives in the East Bay with his life partner, Jess, and their soul dog, Sharpie, continually infusing his creative spirit into all aspects of his life.
